Organoclay price is influenced by various factors, including its unique properties and the mechanisms behind them, which add value to its applications.

A key factor related to its performance is the thixotropic mechanism of organobentonite. In powder coatings containing organobentonite, thixotropy arises from the presence of nano – scale amorphous silica in organobentonite. This silica has unsaturated residual bonds, hydroxyl groups in different bonding states, and a three – dimensional network molecular structure.

The hydrogen bonds on its surface have weak interactions; when external shear force is applied, the hydrogen bond structure breaks, reducing the viscosity of the powder coating. When the shear force disappears, hydrogen bonds quickly recover and restructure, increasing the viscosity.

This time – and force – dependent shear – weakening recovery reaction (thixotropy) contributes to its functionality, which in turn can impact organoclay pricing based on its performance value.

Organoclay is the commercially available organically modified clay mineral used as a rheology modifier and anti-settling additive in oil-based systems including drilling fluids, solvent-based coatings, and lubricating greases; full product specifications are at organoclay — product specifications and application guide. The organophilic clay surface chemistry, dispersion method, and compatibility with different base oils and solvents are explained in organophilic clay — surface chemistry and industrial applications. To source organoclay directly from a China manufacturer, see organoclay supplier — factory-direct supply and technical support.
