Organoclay synthesis: The synthesis of organoclay involves important initial pretreatment of bentonite to prepare it for the modification process. The first step is crushing raw sodium – based bentonite ore to a particle size of -200 mesh, with the requirement that at least 95% of the particles can pass through a 200 – mesh sieve.

The crushed bentonite then undergoes drying at a temperature range of 105 – 110℃ for 3 to 4 hours. This drying process plays a key role by eliminating free water and a portion of adsorbed water, which helps to boost the bentonite’s activity and improve its reaction capabilities.

These pretreatment procedures are vital in ensuring that the bentonite is well – prepared for the following steps in organoclay synthesis, impacting the overall effectiveness of the process.

Organophilic Clay

The CP series of organic bentonite is mainly used in solvent-based and water-based paints, coatings, inks, lubricants, cosmetics, and oilfield drilling fluids.
