Organoclay dosage is a critical factor, and closely linked to it is the dosage of organic covering agents, which directly impacts the quality of organoclay.

The structure, dosage, and application method of organic covering agents play a key role in determining organobentonite’s performance. Different structural types and carbon chain lengths of these covering agents result in significant differences in lipophilicity, which in turn directly affect the application properties and uses of organoclay.

Additionally, the affinity of organic ammonium salts for montmorillonite is related to their relative molecular mass: the larger the relative molecular mass, the easier they are to be adsorbed by montmorillonite.

This is because higher ammonium salts not only undergo exchange reactions with the exchangeable cations of montmorillonite but also have molecular adsorption effects, making dosage control even more important.
