Organoclay solvent – based type is a lipophilic variant well – suited for solvent – based systems, distinguished by its unique cation composition in the interlayer structure.

Unlike hydrophilic sodium – based bentonite with Na⁺ as interlayer cations, solvent – based organoclay features organic cations in its layers, classifying it as a lipophilic thickener.

This organoclay is formed when organic cations or their compounds replace the exchangeable cations in montmorillonite layers or adsorb water, resulting in a hydrophobic and lipophilic organic complex that loses or partially loses water – adsorbing ability.

In organic solvents, it exhibits excellent colloidal dispersibility, thickening properties, adhesiveness, thixotropy, and suspension stability, making it applicable in solvent – based products such as full – oil makeup removers, skincare items, and color cosmetics.
