In synthetic oil-based grease formulations, the high gel efficiency of organic bentonite is a key feature that distinguishes it from traditional thickening agents.

Experimental data shows that when added at 7%-10% of the total formulation, the viscosity of the base oil can be increased from 100-200 cSt to over 10,000 cSt, forming a grease that meets the NLGI Grade 2 standard.

This high efficiency significantly outperforms the 12-15% addition rate commonly used in lithium-based greases, not only reducing raw material costs but also minimizing the interference of additives on the lubricating performance of the base oil.

For example, in polyester oil-based grease, adding 8% organic bentonite maintains the maximum no-seize load (PB value) from the four-ball tester at over 90% of the base oil’s value, whereas traditional thickeners may cause the PB value to drop by 20%.

Additionally, low-temperature flow properties are ensured, with the starting torque at -20°C increasing by only 30% compared to the base oil, meeting the operational requirements of equipment in cold regions.
