Strict control of moisture content is a core aspect of quality management for organic bentonite. The product specifies a moisture content of ≤3.5% after drying at 105°C for 2 hours, a standard critical to grease performance.

Excessive moisture content can damage the organic modified layer of bentonite, reducing its compatibility with base oil and even causing grease emulsification.

Experiments show that when moisture content exceeds 5%, the grease’s drop point decreases by 15-20°C, and water resistance performance decreases by 40%. In humid environments, the advantages of low-moisture organic bentonite are even more pronounced.

For example, in mining machinery lubrication, using products with moisture content ≤3.5% significantly improves the grease’s anti-corrosion performance, extending the corrosion time of metal test pieces in salt spray tests from 24 hours to over 168 hours.

During production, moisture content is precisely controlled through a hot-air drying process to ensure the stability of each batch of products.
