Colloid grinding and homogenization processes are critical for optimizing the microstructure of organic bentonite lubricants.

The preliminarily dispersed material is pumped into a colloid mill, where it undergoes intense shear, compression, and grinding in a 50–100 μm gap, further refining the particle aggregates.

Subsequent homogenization (pressure 20–30 MPa) forces the material through narrow slits under high pressure, with turbulence and cavitation effects completely eliminating micro-agglomerates, resulting in uniform distribution of bentonite layers.

The treated grease exhibits no visible particles under a microscope, with a smooth and fine texture, and a thixotropic index improved from 3.0 to 4.8.

This refined processing significantly improves the grease’s spreadability, forming a uniform and continuous oil film on bearing surfaces. The diameter of wear scars in the four-ball machine test is reduced by 25%, effectively reducing mechanical wear.
