Water-based bentonite forms a three-dimensional network through a unique structure, effectively locking the liquid phase. If the wrong model is selected, the thixotropy will not achieve the expected effect. We usually select the corresponding water-based bentonite model by testing the pH value, polar solvent ratio and the matching of the bentonite model.

How to choose the right organic bentonite or inorganic water-based bentonite? Usually, organic bentonite is suitable for 5%~20% polar fat-soluble systems, such as alcohols or esters, and the thixotropy index can reach more than 3.5, while inorganic water-based bentonite is a pure water-based system, and the effect is better when used with an activator.

We recommend that you use the pre-gel method to achieve better dispersion of bentonite, so adding a small amount of polar activator can improve the activation effect. If your temperature exceeds 45℃, it is recommended to use high-temperature resistant modified bentonite.
