Organoclay is a versatile modified clay product, and its preparation involves specific processes to enhance its properties.

One common method starts with obtaining sodium – based bentonite, which is produced by modifying and purifying raw bentonite ore. This sodium – based bentonite is then mixed with organic solvents.

The organic solvents used in this process are hydrophobic, a key characteristic that allows them to extract the hydrophobic bentonite into the organic phase. Through subsequent separation and evaporation to remove water, the final organoclay product is obtained, ready for various industrial and commercial applications.
