ZDDP is also called Zinc dithiophosphate. They are mainly used in greases. ZDDP is particularly soluble in lubricants such as mineral and synthetic oils. Its addition amount is approximately between 2% and 15%.

In some gear oils, ZDDP also plays an important role. It is regarded as an anti-wear additive, especially suitable for heavy metals used in metal-to-metal contact. In lubricating oil formulations, GDP is an anti-wear additive.
