Storage

Direct addition method under high shear conditionsIn processes requiring high shear, CP-EZ10 organobentonite can be added directly as a powder.
After incorporation, it is recommended that a polar activator be added at a rate of 20% of the bentonite dosage to enhance dispersion and thixotropic properties.
Typical polar activators include ethanol/water (95/5) and methanol/water (95/5) mixtures, which are effective in promoting wetting and dispersion of bentonite particles.
Applications in Solvent-Based Paints
Pre-gel incorporation method
To maximize the performance of CP-EZ10, the pre-gel incorporation method is recommended. The pre-gel is prepared as follows:
Formulation of the pre-gel: Mix the solvent (87% of total volume), CP-EZ10 organobentonite (8-10%) and polar activator (3-4%) in proportion.
First, the solvent was mixed with the bentonite for approximately 10 minutes to ensure that the bentonite particles were adequately wetted.
Subsequently, the polar activator is added and mixing is continued for 5 minutes to allow the bentonite particles to swell sufficiently and form a stable gel structure.
