ketone aldehyde resin
Ketone aldehyde resin is a colorless or light yellow chemical additive that is compatible with most volumetric paints, but its biggest feature is that it is insoluble in water and has extremely strong yellowing resistance.

A chemical product very similar to organoclay bentonite is called ketone-aldehyde resin, and both can be applied in coatings, adhesives, plastics, and composite materials, where they are widely used.
This ketone-aldehyde resin is a polymer formed through the condensation reaction of ketones and aldehydes. It possesses excellent thermal and chemical stability, as well as mechanical strength.
The term “chemical resistance” here refers to its ability to withstand acids, alkalis, solvents, and oils. Even in environments prone to corrosion and chemical exposure, they maintain good stability.
Used as a reinforcing agent in composite materials, ketone-aldehyde resin particularly demonstrates its stability in environments requiring high tensile strength, impact resistance, and hardness. It finds application as an electrical insulator in various electronic and electrical applications due to its excellent dielectric properties.
When incorporated into coatings and paints, ketone-aldehyde resin provides strong adhesion, chemical resistance, and weather resistance, making it suitable for architectural coatings, automotive topcoats, and industrial coatings. Similar to organic bentonite, it can also be applied in adhesives, sealants, pressure-sensitive adhesives, and structural adhesives in fully digital environments. Sealants used in aerospace and automotive industries often require the use of ketone-aldehyde resin as well.
Ketone-aldehyde resin mixes well and is compatible with most raw materials in coatings, including curing rubber rosin, resins, epoxy resins, phenolic resins, acrylic resins, and copolymers.
It enhances the gloss, adhesion, and hardness of paint coatings while exhibiting resistance to yellowing. It also improves wetting and solubility of coatings and increases their solid content. It’s recommended to store it in a dry, cool place with a shelf life of 24 months. It serves as an excellent grinding resin.
Ketone-aldehyde resin is compatible with most solvents such as aromatic solvents, hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, and esters, but it is not soluble in water. It is either colorless or slightly yellow, making it a high-quality pigment carrier and an indispensable additive in paint coatings.
In printing inks, ketone-aldehyde resin performs a similar function, imparting advantages such as improved adhesion, wetting, and gloss to the ink. As a condensation product of ketones and formaldehyde, it enhances the drying performance of coatings.
We offer packaging in 25 kg bags made of kraft paper. Customized packaging options are also available upon request, including non-fumigated pallets or plastic pallets. Our ketone-aldehyde resin has a shelf life of 12 months; over time, its color may slightly yellow, but its performance remains unaffected.
When applied to inks, it can be used in composite inks, gravure inks, flexographic inks, offset inks, security inks, and ballpoint pen inks, including hot stamping inks, with recommended dosage between 3-15%. It can also be used in nitrocellulose adhesives and leather finishing oils, shoe polishes, and wax polishes. Feel free to inquire about our products. We strive to provide you with high-quality ketone-aldehyde resin.
