Organo Clay
For dosing, we recommend using organo clay in paint coatings at approximately 1% to 5% because it is a rheology modifier modified from montmorillonite. Organo clays easily mixes with alkyd paints and effectively prevents pigment settling while providing good thixotropic properties. It can also prevent paint sagging during coating application. To enhance and control viscosity and rheology, organic bentonite is applied in paint coatings.
As an efficient rheology modifier, organo clays can modify the paint and prevent pigment separation. Organo clay bentonite can be added directly in dry powder form to paint formulations during use. For some low-polarity organic bentonites, we recommend adding them in pre-gel form to the formulation.
In other water treatment systems, organic bentonite is used to remove oil from water. The shelf life of organic bentonite is 4 years when stored in a cool, dry place.
When using organic bentonite in paint coatings, after adding 2% to 5% dosage, perform high-speed shearing to achieve viscosity and thixotropic properties. Let it sit for an hour or longer for comprehensive performance. The desired viscosity and thixotropic properties depend on the dosage, so experimentation is recommended to achieve desired effects. Organo clay bentonite can be used not only in solvent-based oil systems but also in water-based paint coatings.
The necessity of grinding when adding organic bentonite clay powder depends on your specific needs; our product can be directly added as dry powder. Using lower shear force ensures better dispersion. This organic derivative of bentonite appears as white powder with a bulk density of 1.47 grams per cubic meter.
After modification, organic bentonite clay powder achieves suspension performance, viscosity, and good hydrophobicity. Organo clays finds wide applications in the paint and lubricant industries. In petroleum and natural gas drilling fluids, organo clays is an essential chemical additive.

They include low-polarity organic bentonites, polar organic bentonites, and advanced organic bentonites. Their main advantage lies in providing particle suspension to prevent pigment and filler settling, offering a wide range of applications, generating thixotropic properties, and enhancing viscosity.
In terms of applications, it can be used in epoxy paints, asphalt coatings, industrial paints, marine paints, lubricants, sealants, and cosmetics.
We recommend storing at temperatures between 0°C and 30°C while maintaining package integrity. For some types of bentonite clay organic, we suggest adding a polarizing activator and dispersing it with high shear force. The recommended dosage is between 0.2% and 2%. The recommended polarizing activators are 95% ethanol or 95% methanol, with an addition amount of the polarizing activator ranging from 45% to 60% of the bentonite clay organic.
Our delivery time is 7 to 10 working days after receiving the deposit. Our packaging options include 25 kg bags, 600 kg bags, or 50 lb bags that can be customized based on customer requirements. Our bags are made of kraft paper or kraft paper composite with PE lining and can be customized.
During formulation and operation, solvents need to be added to the grinding agent while stirring. Add bentonite clay organic gradually during grinding, then mix at high speed for 5 minutes before adding the polarizing activator.
